Getting to Set.

A Workshop for Commercial Auditioning & So Much More...

About Me - Pat Patterson

I’ve been part of the entertainment industry that spans over three decades, both in front of and behind the camera. Working in front of the camera as an actor, behind it as a line producer, and more recently, stepping onto the runway and into print as a model beginning in 2022.  I’ve helped bring countless creative visions to life while mentoring and coaching emerging talent along the way.

As an instructor at Stonestreet Studios, I had the privilege of teaching students from NYU’s prestigious Tisch School of the Arts, where I led courses on The Business of Show. Because for me, entertainment has never been just a job—it’s a lifelong calling.

In what I like to call my Golden Years, I became fascinated by the world of commercial acting. I figured—why not embrace the AARP card? It turned out to be one of the smartest decisions I ever made. I quickly became a go-to performer for wealth management firms, pharmaceutical brands, and active senior campaigns. I made money, had fun, and—most importantly—learned exactly what casting directors are looking for.

That real-world experience became the foundation for my Commercial Acting Workshops, which I’ve been teaching for over a decade. More recently, I’ve expanded my work to include models who are being sent out for commercials but often haven’t been taught the essentials—how to slate, how to break down copy, or how to bring their authentic personality to camera.

With more than 40 years as a working actor and over 15 years as a professional Line Producer on union and non-union film, television, and commercial productions, I bring a rare perspective: I understand both sides of the camera. I know what makes a performance bookable—and what quietly takes talent out of the running.

Getting to Set was built to bridge that gap.

Work Shop Information

Join me for a dynamic two-hour, in-person workshop focused on the essentials of commercial auditioning — from how to frame yourself on camera to slating, breaking down copy, and using your voice, body, and yes… even your hands.

Through improv games and practical exercises, you’ll learn how to create genuine connection with your audience and the product. Commercial auditions aren’t about selling — they’re about building a relationship. A relationship that makes someone laugh, think, or feel something. The most memorable commercials do all of that in just 15 seconds.

We’ll also tackle that often-dreaded prompt:
“So, tell us a little about yourself.”
You’ll learn how to answer it with clarity, confidence, and authenticity.

This small-group class is limited to just 8 actors to ensure individualized, hands-on attention. You’ll work one-on-one with me and get on-camera experience using real commercial copy, so you can walk away feeling more prepared, more grounded — and more you in the room (or in your self-tape).

Location: Midtown Manhattan

Cost: $125.00

"Its been a pleasure to work with Pat over the last 15 years as an actor and coach. We’ve collaborated on actor’s workshops, utilizing my expertise as a casting director and Pat’s abilities to break down a script and help the actor seek a way into the material. She is especially gifted with commercial acting, approaching the process of the audition from slate to  the finished submission. She teaches actors how to be comfortable on camera and present their best selves. As she likes to say, “to win the room” - Donna McKenna,  CSA
